Oshkosh Defense and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada to Showcase Mission-Proven Vehicle Platforms at CANSEC 2010

OSHKOSH, Wis. & LONDON, Ontario — June 2, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada will be exhibiting Oshkosh’s MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) and Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) in the Valley Associates booth at CANSEC 2010, which is taking place June 2-3 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Oshkosh Defense and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada have teamed up for the Canadian Department of National Defence’s Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) program, which will replace the Armoured Patrol Vehicle (APV) and the Coyote reconnaissance vehicle. The companies also are teamed up for the Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) program, which will replace the Medium Logistics Vehicles, Wheeled (MLVW) fleet. The new programs will enhance the capabilities of the Canadian Forces with protected, high-performance vehicle fleets.

“The M-ATV and MTVR are proven, high-performance platforms that deliver world-class capabilities for operations in challenging environments,” said Ron Ziebell, Oshkosh Defense vice president and general manager, International Programs. “The M-ATV offers exceptional survivability and mobility for missions in extreme conditions. The MTVR is an easily transportable heavy-duty vehicle that can carry large payloads both on- and off-road.”

Oshkosh will serve as the prime contractor for both programs and will leverage existing vehicle platforms and technologies for proposal submissions. General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada will provide systems integration and testing support for the vehicles, as well as the complete spectrum of in-country sustainment support. Oshkosh uses the services of Valley Associates to provide Canadian-based services in the areas of marketing and business development.

The M-ATV delivers protection capabilities equal to or greater than legacy Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicles, and can accept add-on armour packages for additional protection from a multitude of threats. The MTVR is available in several variants, including cargo, dump truck, tractor and wrecker, and is designed for extensive off-road operations. It has an off-road payload capacity of 7.1 tons (nearly 6.5 tonnes) and an on-road payload capacity of 15 tons (more than 13.5 tonnes). Both vehicles use the Oshkosh TAK-4® independent suspension system to achieve a 70 percent off-road profile capability to overcome severe and uneven terrain.

To date, Oshkosh has received orders to deliver 8,079 M-ATVs for operations on Afghanistan’s rugged cross-country terrain and unimproved roads. The vehicle uses a 370-horsepower (276-kilowatt) engine, an Allison 3500 SP transmission and a two-channel central tire-inflation system with four terrain settings. Oshkosh recently expanded the M-ATV into a family of vehicles with the addition of tactical ambulance and utility variants.

The Oshkosh vehicles will be on display in the Valley Associates outdoor display area #219. Also on display from Oshkosh will be a SandCat Tactical Protector Vehicle (TPV), a high-mobility, protected tactical vehicle. Oshkosh is leveraging Valley to provide marketing and business-development services exclusively in Canada.
