Oshkosh Defense Debuts Future Light Protected Vehicle in the U.K. at DVD2014
First European live demonstration of the Oshkosh L-ATV platform to meet the changing defense environment
OSHKOSH, Wis. (June 25, 2014) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), will showcase its latest ground technology at the Defense Vehicle Demonstration 2014 (DVD2014) held today through June 26 at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, England. The company is providing live demonstrations of the Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle (L-ATV) Base variant for the first time in Europe, in addition to the new Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected (MRAP) All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) Standard Special Forces (SXF) variant.
“We are thrilled to demonstrate our global L-ATV platform – which marks the future of light, protected military vehicles – for the first time to the European military, industry and acquisition community at DVD2014,” said Serge Buchakjian, senior vice president and general manager of international programs, Oshkosh Defense. “Oshkosh Defense is committed to providing industry leading vehicles, C4ISR integration and life cycle sustainment services in the U.K. and across Europe.”
Oshkosh Defense Vehicles on Display at DVD2014
The New L-ATV – Oshkosh Defense is demonstrating the L-ATV Base variant, which meets a global need for a new level of protected mobility in a light vehicle. The Oshkosh L-ATV represents the future of light combat vehicles as forces look to replace decades-old vehicle fleets that lack the protection and mobility needed for today’s most significant threats, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and rocket-propelled grenades.
- The Oshkosh L-ATV was selected for the U.S. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program’s current phase and is undergoing rigorous U.S. Government testing. The JLTV is expected to fill the current tactical wheeled vehicle capability gap between MRAP vehicles and the aging High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) fleet.
- The Oshkosh L-ATV uses the TAK-4i intelligent independent suspension system to enable 25 percent improved wheel travel and 70 percent faster speeds in off-road terrain compared to today’s best-performing tactical vehicles in off-road environments.
New M-ATV Variants – Following its European debut at Eurosatory, the Oshkosh Defense M-ATV family of vehicles will be represented at DVD2014 with the Oshkosh M-ATV SXF variant on-site for live demonstration. This M-ATV SXF is built to adapt to the uncertainties in wide-ranging tactical Missions and is the proven, survivable vehicle for the needs of Special Forces.
The M-ATV family of vehicles delivers extreme off-road mobility and protection for a wider range of missions and is available in two models, each with multiple variants.
- The M-ATV Standard model provides response and support capabilities for a range of offensive and defensive missions in off-road environments. It can seat as many as five crew members and has a cargo capacity rating of up to 5,500 lbs.
- The M-ATV Extended model delivers increased capacity for additional troops and equipment to support a wider assortment of mission profiles, such as mounted infantry support, explosive ordnance support and command-and-control. The Extended model seats up to 11 crew members. It also has a cargo capacity rating of up to 4,400 lbs.
Exhibit Information – The Oshkosh L-ATV Base variant and M-ATV SXF variant will be showcased on-site at DVD2014 at stand OR-40. Leadership will be available to discuss the vehicles and the company’s broader portfolio of technologies and services.
