Oshkosh Defense Supports TAPS Mission to Care for Families of Fallen Military Loved Ones

Oshkosh continues nationwide signature campaign for Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors for third consecutive year

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Oct. 22, 2013) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), today presented a check for $100,000 to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) at the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) 2013 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C. Oshkosh Defense held a yearlong signature campaign that began at AUSA 2012 and continued at various events across the country. The company pledged $2 to TAPS for each signature gained until reaching its goal of $100,000.

Oshkosh Defense also announced at AUSA 2013 that it would be supporting TAPS for a third consecutive year with another $100,000 signature campaign.

TAPS provides comfort and care to anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. Founded in 1994, the organization has helped more than 40,000 surviving family members and friends through comprehensive services and programs, including case work assistance, emotional support, and grief and trauma resources.

“The mission and work of the TAPS organization has been crucial to supporting our military families, especially during the past decade of conflict,” said John Urias, executive vice president of Oshkosh Corporation and president of Oshkosh Defense. “Many of us at Oshkosh Defense have a history of military experience, and because it’s our job every day to provide the best vehicles and support possible to our Warfighters, their sacrifices are never far from our thoughts. TAPS has held an annual National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief camp since 1994. Regional Survivor Seminars and Good Grief camps also are held at locations across the country. Earlier this year, TAPS held its first-ever Wisconsin seminar with the support of Oshkosh. TAPS also encourages connections to local communities through community-based care.

Oshkosh Defense is hosting a signature wall at its AUSA booth #6943 to kick off its 2014 signature campaign in support of TAPS. The company will pledge a $2 donation for every name signed to the wall toward a goal of up to $100,000. Oshkosh Defense also will donate $2 up to the $100,000 goal for each new “Like” on the Supporting Families of Our Fallen Heroes Facebook page. Facebook users’ information will not be shared, sold, traded or rented to any third party by Oshkosh, and the company will exercise reasonable efforts to keep the information secure.

Oshkosh Defense has a long-standing history of supporting military members, both in the field and back at home, and their families through charitable giving and program support. The company has partnered with organizations such as USO, the Fisher House Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Our Military Kids and others.
