Oshkosh Defense to Help Welcome Home Wisconsin National Guard’s 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team

OSHKOSH, Wis. (June 18, 2010) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), will be supporting the America’s Adopt a Soldier® organization and joining local and state elected officials in welcoming home the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 3,200-member 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team on June 19 in Stevens Point, Wis.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize, celebrate and express our thanks to a very large contingent of Wisconsin citizen-soldiers for their service to their country,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “Supporting our Warfighters and their families is a core part of who we are and what we do at Oshkosh. We are excited to be taking part in this event and supporting an organization as generous and compassionate as America’s Adopt a Soldier.”

The combat team, known as the Red Arrow Brigade, spent a one-year tour in Iraq and represents the Wisconsin National Guard’s largest operational deployment since World War II. To support the event, Oshkosh provided a $7,000 contribution to America’s Adopt a Soldier, a nonprofit organization. The organization serves the needs of U.S. veterans, soldiers and their families through activities such as events, care packages and the Wounded Warrior Path to Strength program, which provides hardware, software, computer training and Internet access to soldiers and veterans.

“Welcoming home the National Guard members of the 32nd Brigade and honoring their families is a true honor and privilege. We are proud to team with Oshkosh in supporting the citizens of Wisconsin as they pay tribute and show how grateful they are for the many personal sacrifices and accomplishments these soldiers and their families have made,” said Mary E. Keeser, founder of America’s Adopt a Soldier. “Deployments can take an emotional toll on both the troops and their families. With help from companies like Oshkosh, we are able to celebrate these homecomings with the great fanfare these troops deserve.”

About America’s Adopt A Soldier
The mission of America’s Adopt a Soldier is to make a difference in the lives of America’s veterans, soldiers and their families. It informs and educates by keeping visibility to and addressing the needs of service members, veterans and their families through its Ambassador Nashville recording artist Brittini Black, the hosting of or participating in special events/workshops (PTSD-trauma workshops), concerts, and speaking and public/military-support events (welcoming home, sporting events, challenge games). America’s Adopt a Soldier also gathers and packs donated items as care packages that are then sent to Service members overseas, with a goal of ensuring every deployed service member receives a care package through regional and local partnerships. The Wounded Warrior Path To Strength (WWPTS) is a partnership developed over a four-year period with Dell, Microsoft, Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. Through the maturity of this program, the organization is able to provide computer hardware, software training and Internet access to connect with family members, military units, case workers, Army Knowledge Online (AKO) and the Microsoft online academy to complete individual course modules. These are critical tools for soldiers to continue their training and education, as well as to stay connected with family, social and professional networks/organizations. www.americasadoptasoldier.org
