Since winning the original JLTV contract for the U.S, military in 2015, Oshkosh Defense has manufactured more than 22,000 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) for the U.S. Armed Forces and NATO, Allied and Coalition partners around the world. As defense needs shift, our commitment to providing international customers and U.S. allied partners with the only proven and highly tested JLTV available today hasn’t changed.
Oshkosh Defense is currently the only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) able to supply JLTVs directly to allied countries through Direct Commercial Sales (DCS). With a mature and established supply chain of more than 300 suppliers, a warm production line, proven production processes, and a world-class team of engineering experts, Oshkosh is the only OEM ready to deliver JLTVs to America’s allies today.
NATO allies that use Oshkosh JLTVs include the United States, Montenegro, Slovenia, Slovakia, Belgium, Lithuania, North Macedonia, and Romania. With the same superior battlefield technology, these countries benefit from enhanced efficiency during combined exercises and joint missions within NATO.

Interoperability
“International interest for the Oshkosh JLTV continues to be strong as customers seek a light tactical vehicle with lethal capabilities and fleet commonality attributes,” stated Gregory Baker, director of business development at Oshkosh Defense.
The Oshkosh Defense team stands ready with on-site support from certified JLTV experts. Oshkosh-trained Field Service Representatives (FSR) are stationed globally to support military units in international operations. Working alongside our allies helps us deliver the highest level of maintenance, technical assistance, and training to ensure peak operational readiness.
Proven Performance & Reliability
From off-road speed to extreme temperatures, the Oshkosh JLTV is the only offering in its class that has undergone and passed intense U.S. military testing to ensure it exceeds the performance requirements to withstand harsh battlefield environments.
“There isn’t a vehicle in the armored 4×4 class that has been tested in the way these JLTVs have,” Baker said.
These go-anywhere, do-anything vehicles have been extensively field-tested for performance across all types of terrains, including rocky coastlines, snow and ice-covered regions, mountains, and deserts. With more than 10 years of comprehensive performance, durability, and survivability testing, the Oshkosh JLTV has completed over 400,000 miles of developmental and governmental testing.
The Oshkosh JLTV features include:
- Patented TAK-4i™ intelligent independent suspension system
- Fully integrated C4ISR backbone
- Mission System Modularity: Payload of over 1500kg
- Military grade onboard power generation: 10 Kilowatts
- Fording capabilities up to 1.5 meters
Oshkosh holds more than 125 patents and applications on the JLTV family of vehicles and related technologies. From these proprietary technologies and capabilities, the Oshkosh JLTV has redefined the traditional role of the tactical armored 4×4 vehicle for NATO and its allies.
“These (JLTV) 4×4 vehicles are a platform with exceptional mobility and ballistic protection for lighter combat and support units,” Slovak Defense Minister Martin Sklenár said in July 2023. “No vehicles currently in service with the Slovak Armed Forces provide such a combination of features.”

As defense needs and missions change, so can the JLTV. With aftermarket kits and continuous improvements, the JLTV stays up to date with the latest technological and engineering advancements for ongoing performance.
“We designed the JLTV with persistent modernization in mind; to be able to receive updates with minimal changes to hardware over the lifetime of the vehicle,” Baker said.
At The Ready
The Oshkosh Defense JLTV has consistently demonstrated its ability to fill critical capability gaps and will continue to find its place on the battlefield for many years to come.
“Procurement of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicles from the United States is one of the most vital steps in Lithuanian Armed Forces upgrade,” Arvydas Anušauskas, the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, said in January 2024. “We are glad the supplier took its commitment seriously: despite the agreement to deliver the last JLTV batch of the first contract in 2024, the equipment was made and delivered ahead of schedule as requested by the Ministry of National Defence.”
As a globally recognized leader in the design and production of military systems, Oshkosh remains committed to supporting NATO allies that want to modernize their Armed Forces and protect their Warfighters with the most capable and proven light tactical vehicle.
