Oshkosh Defense Awarded Remanufacturing Contract For Current Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles Program

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Sept. 17, 2008 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), received an $18 million contract to reset Palletized Load System (PLS) vehicles from the U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM). This contract modification enables the continued production of the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) currently manufactured by Oshkosh.

This latest contract modification resets more than 50 PLS vehicles in the fleet, and provides the U.S. Army the security of a continuous remanufacture of the FHTV in the fleet and currently manufactured by Oshkosh. Additional vehicle parts and equipment also are included in the contract.

Built to load and unload a variety of cargo, the PLS is designed to meet the U.S. Army’s distribution and resupply needs in even the most challenging military missions. The PLS truck and trailer form a self-contained system that reduces the need for forklifts or other material-handling equipment, and they both carry a demountable cargo bed, also known as a flatrack, that features a 16.5-ton payload capacity.

The Army’s FHTV consists of three Oshkosh vehicles, the HEMTT, Palletized Load System (PLS) and Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET). Together these vehicles fulfill critical transport and resupply missions for soldiers.
