Oshkosh Defense Medium Equipment Trailer (MET)

Oshkosh Enhances U.S. Army Mobility with Medium Equipment Trailer

OSHKOSH, WI. – Oshkosh Defense, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) company, announced today that the U.S. Army has placed a $27.6 million order for 55 Medium Equipment Trailers (METs). This is the third Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) order as part of the five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) MET production contract awarded to Oshkosh in November 2023.

The MET is designed and manufactured in partnership with Broshuis B.V. Together, Oshkosh and Broshuis are delivering a reliable solution that supports the Army’s modernization efforts and meets evolving logistics and transport demands.

The six-axle MET drop deck trailer is interoperable with the Oshkosh Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System (EHETS) M1300 tractor and is purpose-built to transport combat vehicles weighing up to 60 tons. It meets European Highway Road Network Accessibility (RNA) requirements for payloads up to 45 tons and is optimized for global operations, capable of navigating under four-meter overpasses and fording water obstacles with its hydraulically adjustable suspension.

The MET is designed to support the transport of key U.S. Army platforms, including the Bradley, Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV), Paladin Self-Propelled Howitzer, and Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicles (FAASV)—reinforcing tactical mobility in complex operational environments.

“The MET is another example of how Oshkosh Defense delivers forward-thinking solutions to complex logistics challenges,” said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer at Oshkosh Defense. “In an era where speed and mobility can define mission success, the MET stands out as a vital asset for maintaining a credible and responsive force posture.”

The MET plays a critical role in supporting the U.S. Army’s operational effectiveness in contested logistics environments by enabling the rapid, reliable, and flexible transport of mission-essential equipment across challenging and potentially hostile terrain. It’s rugged design, payload capacity, and compatibility with multiple platforms make it a key enabler for sustaining operations at the edge of the battlefield where speed, adaptability, and resilience are essential for combat readiness.

This Spring, the MET program successfully completed Government Production Verification Testing (PVT) several months ahead of schedule. Oshkosh and Broshuis will produce these trailers through June 2026.
