Oshkosh Truck Introduces High-Speed Blower for Airport Snow Removal

OSHKOSH, WIS. (September 2, 2004) — Oshkosh Truck Corporation [NYSE: OSK] announced today that it has introduced a new, high-speed snow blower for use in airport clearing operations. Capable of performing at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, the blower was engineered by Oshkosh to integrate with the company’s H-Series snow removal chassis. The blower is powered by a dedicated 650-horsepower engine and is capable of casting more than 5,000 tons of snow per hour.

The new blower will be manufactured by Sweepster LLC of Dexter, Mich., and will be sold and serviced by Oshkosh Truck Corporation and its dealers.

“This new high-speed blower gives airports a fully integrated solution for their most demanding snow removal operations,” said Mike Crowe, Vice President of Airport / Municipal Product at Oshkosh. “Clearing runways safely and quickly is a challenging proposition. Oshkosh’s new design means an airport’s blowers can keep pace with the plows and brooms they operate, so all of their equipment works together to clear the runways faster than they ever have before.”

Oshkosh Truck Corporation has been manufacturing heavy-duty, all-wheel-drive chassis for snow removal for nearly 80 years. Today, the company has more than 1,500 H-Series and P-Series snow removal vehicles in operation at major airports worldwide. The company is a leading manufacturer of specialty trucks and truck bodies for the defense, fire and emergency, concrete placement and refuse hauling markets. Oshkosh Truck is a Fortune 1000 company with products marketed under the Oshkosh, Pierce, McNeilus, Medtec, Jerr-Dan, Geesink and Norba brand names. Since World War II, Oshkosh is headquartered in Oshkosh, Wis., and had annual sales of $1.9 billion in fiscal 2003.
