Oshkosh Autonomous Technology
When you’d rather not send anyone.
Oshkosh Defense® unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) technology advances perception, localization and motion planning to protect Warfighters from IED threats and increase performance in autonomous missions. Integrating high-power military computers, intelligence, drive-by-wire technology and state-of-the-art distributed sensing systems, this technology allows UGVs to run with no driver and limited supervision.
Enhance situational awareness. Improve troop safety with optimal standoff distance from threats. Sustain full operational tempo through every mile of every mission. UGV technology enhances protection, reduces distractions and enables troops to focus on mission success.

Capabilities: Complete Autonomous Mobility
Supervised lead or follow role
OPTEMPO up to 37 mph (60 km/h)
All-weather, day or night operation
Optional autonomous operation
Route clearance with 1,640 ft. (500 m) standoff
GPS-denied navigation for 6.2 mile (10 km)
Applying advanced machine learning techniques to perception and motion planning, UGV removes personnel from at-risk vehicles in targeted routes. Maintaining the vehicles full mobility and payload capacity, it increases threat standoff and enhances crew protection in contested areas of operation.
Backed by thousands of miles of field testing, the modular UGV system significantly outperforms teleoperated systems, is ready for use on any tactical wheeled vehicle and can readily integrate systems for the detection, disruption and pre-detonation of explosive hazards.

Systems & Control: User-friendly Control
Command Zone™ operation
LIDAR, radar & vision
Military-grade Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)
Accurate positioning without continuous tracking or GPS
Streamlined installation. Safe operation. Advanced autonomous control. Designed, engineered and built by Oshkosh, TerraMax UGV’s robust, multi-modal sensor suite is fully integrated onto the vehicle to minimize system vulnerability while enabling Advanced Driver Assist Systems such as Electronic Stability Control, Collision Mitigation Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control. And Command Zone™ computer controlled, multiplexed electronics technology operates and diagnoses all by-wire vehicle systems.
Equipped with TerraMax, each vehicle is capable of independent navigation to the objective, enabling tight convoy formation and the composition of the convoy to change as demanded by traffic conditions, road blockages or other obstructive situations. Operators have complete control to create and load route information, as well as managing internal operations and autonomous systems status. Implementing novel registration techniques, the multi-sensor system provides accurate positioning estimates without continuous tracking through a lead vehicle or GPS signals.
