TURN TO OSHKOSH FOR DELIVERY AND ELECTRIC FLEET SOLUTIONS DESIGNED FOR THE FUTURE
Oshkosh Defense builds next-generation delivery vehicles engineered for the demands of modern logistics — from the new USPS mail truck to electric and hybrid fleet solutions for the future. Drawing on decades of experience designing vehicles that perform in the world’s most extreme conditions, we bring that same standard of reliability, durability, and innovation to every delivery route.
Embracing advanced technologies, sustainability, and operational efficiency, our delivery vehicles aim to redefine how goods are transported. Whether you’re modernizing a large postal fleet or exploring purpose-built electric delivery vehicles for urban and rural operations, Oshkosh delivers vehicles built to last, built to perform, and built for what comes next. We’re making ground transportation and deliveries faster, greener, and more cost-effective.
THE NEW USPS MAIL TRUCK: NEXT GENERATION DELIVERY VEHICLE (NGDV)
Oshkosh Defense was awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract in February 2021 to produce a fleet of Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDV) for the U.S. Postal Service. The first order was placed in March 2022 for 50,000 NGDVs.
The new USPS mail truck represents the first major overhaul of the U.S. Postal Service fleet in over 30 years. Oshkosh Defense was selected to design and manufacture up to 165,000 Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDV) over a ten-year period, — available in both battery electric (BEV) and fuel-efficient internal combustion engine (ICE) configurations. These purpose-built delivery trucks are engineered for the full range of American mail routes: dense urban neighborhoods, suburban streets, and rural delivery corridors.
Key features of the new USPS delivery truck:
- Zero-emission battery electric and low-emission ICE options
- 360° cameras and automatic emergency braking for driver and pedestrian safety
- Ergonomic driver cab designed for repeated stop-and-go delivery
- Enhanced cargo flexibility for packages of all sizes
- Connected telematics for real-time fleet management
Oshkosh Defense applies battlefield-tested design to next-generation delivery fleets. Our USPS Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) program introduces electric and hybrid options with ergonomic driver environments and enhanced cargo flexibility. These vehicles are purpose-built for dense urban routes, rural mail service, and modern logistics needs. Safety features include 360° cameras, emergency braking, and connected telematics. Chassis and suspension systems are engineered for long-term reliability and low maintenance. Fleet managers benefit from proven durability and Oshkosh’s global supply and service network.
