Oshkosh Defense to Showcase the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for First Time at IDET 2019

OSHKOSH, Wis. (May 28, 2019) — Oshkosh Defense, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) company will exhibit the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for the first time at the International Fair of Defence and Security Technology (IDET) in Brno, Czech Republic May 29-31. The Oshkosh JLTV is the next generation light tactical wheeled vehicle with an unprecedented combination of protection, mobility, transportability and Net Ready systems integration that delivers the network capability of a mobile command center.

“Combat operations require military units to be mobile, fast, lethal, protected and connected and the JLTV is a perfect fit for today’s mission requirements, as well as the needs of the future,” said Mike Ivy, senior vice president of international programs and global product support for Oshkosh Defense. “In addition to a highly adaptable weapons platform, the JLTV is a network on wheels, representing the first time a tactical wheeled vehicle was designed from the ground up to be Net Ready for communications in denied environments.”

The benefits of the JLTV to the international community include fleet commonality among coalition forces as well as a vehicle that has already undergone rigorous U.S. Army and Marine Corps testing, making the JLTV primed for a variety of mission requirements. The JLTV reliability was assessed at more than double the specification requirement after 100,000 miles of U.S. Government Reliability Qualification Testing. International forces will also discover economies of scale given the U.S. military’s planned order sizes. Several countries have publicly expressed interest in procuring the JLTV, including Lithuania, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom.

Additional features of the JLTV include:

  • Scalability and flexibility: The highly flexible JLTV is uniquely suited for mission adaptability in the field, able to accept additional armor depending on mission need. With its payload capacity, the JLTV can take on the enemy with a multitude of remotely operated weapon configurations including cannons, missiles and advanced non-kinetic weapon systems for use against land and air threats.
  • Mobility and protection: The JLTV combines scalable crew protection system and the Oshkosh TAK-4i™ intelligent independent suspension system to provide an agile, fast and protected light tactical vehicle.
  • Net Ready: The JLTV’s integrated network means the equipment and systems within the vehicle can be used independently or be interoperable to provide a common operational picture.

Oshkosh Defense leadership will be available to discuss the Oshkosh JLTV and the company’s portfolio of vehicles, technologies and integration capabilities at IDET booth #076-077.
