TerraMax UGV technology has life-saving potential for military’s ground vehicle operations
OSHKOSH, Wis. (April 10, 2014) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), is demonstrating its TerraMax® unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) technology at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Hill Day today at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. Oshkosh TerraMax UGV technology has the potential to reduce troops’ exposure to threats like improvised explosive devices (IED) and optimize the number of troops needed to carry out various ground missions.
In addition to demonstrating the TerraMax UGV technology, Oshkosh Defense representatives will be available to speak with lawmakers and their staff during the event. AUVSI Hill Day is part of National Robotics Week and seeks to educate members of Congress about the latest advances in unmanned technology.

Oshkosh continues to work independently and with the U.S. military regarding the application and use of the TerraMax UGV technology on multiple vehicles supporting a range of operations, including convoy logistics and route clearance missions.
About the TerraMax UGV Technology
The Oshkosh TerraMax UGV technology is designed as a scalable appliqué kit that can be tightly integrated on current production vehicles or retrofitted on legacy vehicles. Vehicles equipped with the TerraMax UGV technology can be seamlessly integrated into military operations to carry out planned missions in full autonomous mode or by “shadowing” a leader vehicle. They also can maintain prescribed convoy following distance, function in all weather conditions and operating environments, and retain their original payload and performance capabilities.
The TerraMax UGV technology was developed with the user in mind, for ease of control. Troops can be trained to operate vehicles remotely or in full autonomous mode in only a few days, and the TerraMax operator control unit (OCU) user interface addresses the usability and functionality needs of the troops in the field.
Oshkosh also is transitioning technologies from the TerraMax UGV system to provide active-safety features for the manned operation of vehicle fleets, including electronic stability control, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and electric power-assist steering.
