Oshkosh Defense Displays JLTV at DSEi Show in United Kingdom

OSHKOSH, Wis. (September 12, 2017) – Oshkosh Defense, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) company, will showcase the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) in Europe this week at the DSEI 2017 defence and security exhibition from September 12 -15, 2017. Earlier this year, the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which manages Foreign Military Sales (FMS), announced that the State Department approved the sale of Oshkosh-manufactured JLTVs through an FMS procurement to satisfy the United Kingdom’s Group 1 requirement of the Multi Role Vehicle Protected (MRV-P) Programme. This is the first FMS case to be initiated since Oshkosh was awarded the U.S. contract in August of 2015 to replace up to 16,901 U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps in-service uparmored High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs).

“Oshkosh is no stranger to supporting the U.K., and we are pleased to see the JLTV FMS transaction between the United States and the United Kingdom moving forward,” said George Mansfield, Vice President and General Manager, International Programs at Oshkosh Defense. “Oshkosh Defense has supported vehicle programs such as the Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) and Wheeled Tanker programs for nearly two decades in the U.K., and we look forward to many more years of continued service to the U.K. military.” The U.K. MoD fleet of Oshkosh-manufactured vehicles would reach over 1,000 vehicles with future deliveries of Oshkosh JLTV vehicles.

“Oshkosh is dedicated to supporting the U.K. JLTV program from an industry standpoint as well,” Mansfield continued. “A JLTV sale to the United Kingdom presents exciting opportunities to expand Oshkosh’s business relationships in the United Kingdom, as we pursue U.K.-specific equipment suppliers and support partners in the region. We look forward to this important international JLTV programme.”

The U.S. JLTV programme is currently in Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and remains on-schedule, on-budget and is completing reliability and performance test activities as well as logistics supportability evaluations. The programme anticipates a U.S. Department of Defense Full Rate Production (FRP) decision in fiscal year 2019. Any future international deliveries are expected to follow after U.S. FRP deliveries begin. “While we defer MRV-P programme specifics like timing, quantities, and contractor requirements to the U.K. customer, Oshkosh is committed to delivering an affordable, networked, protected mobility solution to our valued British ally, and continuing to strengthen our transatlantic relationship,” Mansfield concluded.

The JLTV

The JLTV will provide U.S. and allied forces around the globe with a next generation, lightweight, all-terrain vehicle that is protected, connected, tested, transportable, affordable and flexible.

  • Protected: The JLTV base vehicle (right off the production line) provides small arms and ballistics protection. With an add-on B kit, JLTV achieves MRAP levels of protection.
  • Mobile: The JLTV combines the latest in suspension technologies, using the Oshkosh TAK-4iª intelligent independent suspension system to deliver off-road speeds that are 70% faster than today’s gold standard, the M-ATV, while maintaining the same ride quality for occupants.
  • Transportable: Weighing less than 6,350 kg (14,000 lbs) at curb weight, the JLTV is highly transportable while maintaining its protection or performance. The JLTV can be air transported internally by a C-130, C-5 and C-17, or externally by CH-47 and CH-53.
  • Connected: The JLTV is brings the network to the missionÐit is wired for current and future C4 systems to ensure the vehicle are ready-to-roll right off the production line. The JLTV is built with the capability to serve as a mobile command center. The JLTV features a modular, scalable open architecture system to support rapidly evolving C4ISR suites on the Government’s secure network.
  • Tested: The Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) Testing was a comprehensive 14 month program consisting of performance, durability, and survivability tests.
  • Interoperable: The JLTV was designed to adapt for future missions. Inherent to its design, the vehicle will allow interoperability and force multiplication between allied forces such as the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), on behalf of international organizations such as the UN or NATO.

The Oshkosh JLTV will be on display in the Oshkosh Defense booth #N4-165 at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) from September 12 through September 15 at the ExCel Centre, London, U.K.
