Oshkosh Defense to Unveil Upgraded Heavy Equipment Transporter at Defendory International 2008

OSHKOSH, Wis. — October 7, 2008 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), today unveiled its newest Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) vehicle at the Defendory International 2008 show in Athens, Greece, Oct. 7 – 11, 2008. Attendees at Defendory International will have the opportunity to explore the inside of the new vehicle, as well as learn more about its various enhancements over the current HET. Oshkosh executives and program managers will be available to answer questions and discuss the Global HET program.

The Oshkosh® Global HET 6×6 features powerful upgrades to the vehicle’s powertrain, including a 700-hp engine and an Allison 4800SP transmission. Cab enhancements consist of improved seats, standard air conditioning and an available 3rd door. The upgraded HET M1070A1 currently in development for the U.S. Army closely resembles the Global HET.

“The Global HET delivers increased reliability and ease of maintenance through vehicle design, technology improvements and increased parts commonality with other Oshkosh tactical vehicles,” said John Stoddart, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “This will simplify the global service and support of the vehicle, which is especially important in a coalition environment.”

In March 2008, Oshkosh Defense was awarded a single-source contract worth $11.3 million from the U.S. Army for the engineering and initial production of six next-generation HET A1 vehicles.

Oshkosh began manufacturing the current version of the U.S. HET in 1992 and currently supplies the U.S Army with the M1070 HET and the U.K. Ministry of Defense with the 1070F HET. The HET is designed to haul main battle tanks, as well as fighting and recovery vehicles, armored vehicles, and construction equipment quickly and safely to mission sites.
